Release Notes

  1. 2.6.1

    • Mermaid diagrams in replies now render as diagrams.
    • Remote host threads have the terminal drawer.
    • The August harness runs on linked hosts, billed to your account’s credits.
    • New-thread defaults and favorite models follow you onto your hosts.
  2. 2.6.0

    • Run remote agents on your own machines with npx @agst/cli serve. Their threads show up next to this Mac’s.
    • Folders you work in are now projects. Add or clone one from ⌘K.
    • Start a task in a new worktree. August names the branch, copies your .env files and can run a setup command.
    • Commit, push and open a pull request from the git button in the thread header.
  3. 2.5.5

    • Claude Haiku 5.5 is in the model picker.
    • New threads get their titles from Haiku 5.5.
  4. 2.5.4

    • OpenCode threads now run on OpenCode 2. If you’re still on OpenCode 1, update it from Settings.
    • You can steer OpenCode threads while they work, just like Claude threads.
    • Browser actions in OpenCode threads show up as browser steps, with their screenshots.
  5. 2.5.3

    • When August updates Claude Code for a new model, the model shows up in the picker right away instead of after a relaunch.
    • The status dots in the header no longer block the buttons under them.
  6. 2.5.2

    • August now runs on Linux too.
    • Threads with subagents still working show as working, not “in background”. A dev server running underneath is a small dot instead.
    • Threads no longer flash to ready, or play the finish sound, before the agent is actually done.
    • The Subagents tab shows each subagent’s model.
    • Simpler code blocks, with syntax highlighting.
    • Smoother streaming on long threads.
    • Files and images staged in the composer stay with their thread instead of following you to the next one.
    • The browser window keeps its tabs and address bar when empty.
    • Quitting August now closes the Claude Code and OpenCode processes it started.
  7. 2.5.1

    • Drop any file into the composer, not just images. A PDF, a log, a spreadsheet: the agent gets a path it can read. Files from outside the project are copied into August’s own folder so the path stays good. Local threads only.
    • Background tasks keep running after the agent replies. A dev server or a backgrounded subagent stays up between messages, the agent picks up when one finishes, and the thread shows what it is waiting on: an amber twinkle and timer in the sidebar, the count next to the title, and a Background tab in the details panel with a stop button per task.
    • Stopping a run no longer kills its background tasks.
    • The Tasks tab works again on Opus 4.8, Sonnet 5, Fable 5 and newer.
    • A run that fails to start says why, such as a gateway sign-in or an outdated Claude Code.
    • Reading a PDF no longer fills the tool row with raw data.
  8. 2.5.0

    • August is its own harness, next to Claude Code and OpenCode. The credits toggle is gone.
    • Settings → Models: one card per harness, search, Refresh, and Install for a missing CLI.
    • Fork a thread from any agent reply.
    • Retry a turn that stopped or failed before the agent replied.
    • The context meter updates during a run.
    • The transcript shows when context is being compacted.
    • Model refusals show in the transcript, and the thread follows the fallback model.
    • Settings → Archived: restore or delete archived threads. Deleting a Chat removes its scratch folder.
    • Settings → Updates shows release notes.
    • Chat threads get the terminal and Open in VS Code.
    • The working timer keeps counting when you switch threads.
    • Browser screenshots no longer hang or fail on busy pages.
    • Copy and Fork no longer show through the composer.
    • A message sent while a run was finishing is no longer lost.
    • Cloud reconnects on its own after a drop and catches up cloud threads.
  9. 2.4.2

    • Claude Fable 5.1 is in the model picker and is now the default top model.
    • Fable 5 stays available. Turn it back on in Settings → Models.
  10. 2.4.1

    • When an agent spawns subagents, they show up in a Subagents tab in the details panel, each with live status and its own transcript. Works with Claude Code and OpenCode.
    • Subagent activity no longer clutters the main thread.
    • Hover any agent reply to copy it as Markdown.
    • Fixed a crash while streaming large tables.
  11. 2.4.0

    • Run threads in the cloud. Pick Cloud on the New Task screen and August runs the thread in a sandbox against one of your GitHub repos. You can close the app and come back to it later.
    • Sign in happens in the browser on cloud.agst.me. The in-app email and password form is gone.
    • Subscriptions come with a daily budget plus extra credits. The Account page shows your usage, and the app tells you when credits run out.
    • The phone app gets cloud threads and the same sign-in.
  12. 2.3.7

    • Thread titles generate again. They had quietly stopped a few builds ago.
    • Pick the title model in Settings → General. Right-click a thread and choose Regenerate title to redo one.
    • A working thread shows a live elapsed time in the sidebar, counted from when the run started.
    • Crashes and failures are reported to us so quiet breakage gets noticed. Reports are scrubbed before they leave, with no account info and no tracing. Your threads never leave your machine.
    • A render crash offers a reload instead of a blank window.
    • Fixed long URLs and paths overflowing their message bubble.
  13. 2.3.5

    • The sidebar has Pinned, Recent and Archived sections. Right-click a thread to pin it.
    • Archived threads live in their own collapsed section instead of disappearing. Sending a message into one brings it back. Hide the section in Settings → General if you’d rather not see it.
    • Right-click a thread to rename it. The automatic titler won’t overwrite your name.
    • Opening a thread lands at the bottom instead of stopping short.
    • ⌘Q asks first when a task is running, since quitting stops the run.
  14. 2.3.4

    • New app icon, with the Liquid Glass look on macOS 26.
    • Fixed a leftover copy of an old version that could linger in Applications after an update.
  15. 2.3.3

    • ⌘J opens a shell in the task’s folder, powered by Ghostty’s terminal core. Full-screen TUIs, true colour, selection and scrollback all work. Each task keeps one shell running until you close the app, so a build you started is still going when you come back.
    • The agent’s bookkeeping tool calls are hidden from the transcript by default, since the Tasks panel already shows the plan. Turn them back on in Settings → General.
    • ⌘B, ⌘J and the details panel now toggle closed as well as open. The details panel moved to ⇧⌘B.
    • The transcript no longer shifts sideways when a thread grows past one screen.
    • Early installs no longer miss stable hotfixes.
    • Update checks run every 10 minutes instead of every 6 hours.
  16. 2.3.2

    • The agent’s own plan shows in the details panel with live status. The panel opens itself on the Tasks tab when the first task appears, and the list survives reopening a thread.
  17. 2.3.1

    • August checks for new versions in the background and tells you in the sidebar. It never installs anything on its own.
    • Settings → Updates has the whole flow: pick a channel, see what’s new, download, and relaunch when you’re ready.
    • Two channels: Stable, and Early for prereleases.
    • Installing is blocked while a task is running, so an update can’t interrupt you.
